The Big Dig Raises $2,943 for the Kawatiri Coastal Trail
The Big Dig, held during the Easter school holidays, was a fundraiser for the maintenance of the Kawatiri Coastal Trail. A combination of the entrance fee, Raffle, Merchandise and delicious BBQ saw a total of $2,943 raised for the Trail.
Over 400 participants dug for stones, and thanks to the generosity of 26 Sponsors there were fabulous prizes for treasure. Lucky winners took away accommodation vouchers, food, massages, tours, movie tickets, books, and a family train trip.
This year’s Major Sponsor, Carters Beach Top 10 Holiday Park donated $500 towards a prize that was valued at $660, for a trip for four with Outwest Tours, including a Donaldo’s voucher.
Who knew digging for puipuiaki (treasure) could be so much fun! Thanks to all the Volunteers, Sponsors and participants who made the Event a huge success. We’re already looking forward to bigger and pai kē atu (better) next year.
The Kawatiri Coastal Trail needs donations to support its maintenance and ongoing operations. If you would like to make a contribution, you can do so via the Givealittle Page.
